DinkyPRO 0.95 Available!

After well over a year in the making, DinkyPRO is now available. With four channels of adjustment (whereas Dinky freeware has just one), it is capable of amazing work. However, it is even more complex. It's not for the faint of heart, and not for those unwilling to be frustrated or confused. There is no "make image awesome" button in DinkyPRO -- it is a whole bunch of knobs and dials and tweaks. What you do with them is up to you.

This is my most expensive plug-in, at $25. It's also not documented except in the "tool-tips" that appear when you point the mouse at each control. I do hope to address that over time, but I can't guarantee when. I sincerely hope that DinkyPRO users will share techniques for creating interesting results.

Basically, then, if you understand what Dinky freeware does, DinkyPRO does that -- only much MORE. I'm crazy busy with an upcoming show but I did want to get this out. The 0.95 release means this is almost certainly final but if I need to make a tweak in the way something works (unlikely after this testing), it may break compatibility. It is, however, compatible with Dinky 0.8; settings should translate mostly intact.

http://nexi.com/dinky

I do have some more features I want to add including channel chaining and channel copy/paste, but those will have to wait until the summer.

Yes, this plug-in will be updated for B5. Current purchasers will receive a free update; after B5 is released, the price will almost certainly change.
SharpiePRO 3.0 and Claire updates

SharpiePRO has been updated to version 3.0 - free for registered users!

1. Smart sharpening. "Smart sharpening as offered here alters how much sharpening is applied to each pixel depending on its placement in the histogram and how it relates to pixels around it. Smart sharpening is very good at reducing the halo effects of traditional unsharp masking."

2. Two Enhancer modes. "The enhancer re-interprets camera sensor data based on a new algorithm for chromatic blending."

3. Per-camera defaults. "The camera defaults feature allows you to create capture sharpening defaults that are different for each camera you use."

4. Streamlined UI. There are now two master panels, with the most commonly used controls duplicated on a small Mini panel for a more compact integration with your tool panels.

5. More Blur options: Add & Subtract, for more specialized effects.

6. Speed. It's faster, but not much. Hey, any bit helps.

7. Vista installer included -- I fixed the batch file so it should work properly now. I tested it on both XP and Vista and it works a treat.

Also, Claire has been updated to include D50 lighting for the QPCard 201 - 1.0b now available for download.

PercyPRO 1.3

I've uploaded version 1.3 of PercyPRO. This new version has better math for smoother corrections as well as an important new feature: Edge Mirroring.

With Mirror turned on, the formerly blank areas of rotated or perspective corrected images are filled in with reflected images, as if there were mirrors surrounding the original exposure. This helps fill in those blanks with useful data, and although it's not a panacea, it can help you get a little more crop out of an image without having an objectionable blank area.

Mirror also comes into play with perspective corrections, allowing interesting tiling effects that further extend Percy's experimental image possibilities.

I've also reduced the density of the grid lines, per a user request, so they're easier to see through. Note that you'll still want to turn off most forms of sharpening (including Sharpie) when the grid is enabled, otherwise the grid lines get sharpened, also, and that is pretty annoying.

This is also the first plug-in with a Vista-safe installation batch-file. Please let me know if it works/doesn't work for your Vista. If I get consistent reports of success, I'll update all the other installers.

Thanks for your continued support. I've got more updates and new tools on the way, and hope that Bibble's market share expands further! I'll be teaching some courses with it as a Workflow solution, so maybe there will be some new users from Canada in the next month orso.

Info
http://nexi.com/percy

Download Site for registered Percy owners
http://nexi.com/software/paid/

Updates

AndyPRO is now at version 1.4 -- a new RGB checkbox!

When RGB is checked, the film simulation runs each of the RGB channels through the simulator process individually, thus imitating some of the response properties of colour film (but not all of them; colour film simulation is still a ways off). When in RGB mode, the spectral response sliders provide gamma adjustments instead of spectra lresponse, so white is preserved.

Matty and MattyPRO 1.2 -- Autolevels Fix

Matty no longer interferes with the operation of Bibble's built-in autolevels function.
New Plug-in: Shady!

Shady allows you adjust shadow and exposure using a special amplification algorithm that reduces the effect of noise while still recovering usable detail. Shady really comes into its own when you set your camera to -1.0EV and then set Shady to recover the shadows at +1.0 -- suddenly you're shooting with real highlights and almost no loss of shadow resolution. More dynamic range and an "extra stop" for every lens you own -- almost for free. It's a killer!

Shady also offers two sliders for the adjustment of highlight saturation, making reduction or elimination of highlight recovery tints a snap.

Learn more and Purchase Now
http://nexi.com/shady

MattyPRO is now available for purchase at $10 USD. This upgraded version of the well-loved freeware Matty adds the ability to create very realistic shadowing on your image. Each of the three levels of framing can cast its own shadow at varying width/height. The shadow intensity can also be adjusted, to create a more or less intense effect. Finally, the general light position can be shifted left/right/up/down to create a variety of subtle (or dramatic) lighting effects.

If you're using Matty now, consider upgrading to MattyPRO -- the added realism of shadows can really make your framing "pop" right off the screen - or page!

Learn More and Buy Now
http://nexi.com/matty

TonyREAL is a tool for B&W photographers that allows you to reproduce the toning gradient (e.g. sepia) of another image. Using TonyREAL is as simple as finding a picture with a toning you like, placing it in the TonyREAL source directory and selecting its filename from a list. TonyREAL scans the source image, extracts the tone changes present, then applies them to your Bibble image. It's just that simple.

Sample Images and more info here
http://nexi.com/tonyreal

Testers Needed for "Dinky"

Hi,

Preparing another plug-in for release for dramatic toning and recolouring. Yes, this would be what TonyULTRA turned out to be. The plug-in is called "Digital Ink and Light" or just Dinky for short.

Anyway, I need a few testers. If you spend a lot of time doing toning already, you're someone I want to talk to. If you don't use Tony much or focus mostly on traditional B&W or just regular colour shots, then this isn't the plug-in for you because it's really quite complex.

Sample Images
http://photi.ca/gallery/2475876/1/129846119/Large
http://photi.ca/gallery/2205636/1/126759860/Large
http://photi.ca/gallery/2470983/1/129845594/Large

seanmpuckett@gmail.com to volunteer, please state qualifications and interest.
AndyPRO 1.3 Released

A small update to AndyPRO, one bugfix, one feature request --

1. Bug fix: Spectral response values now always correctly set tocurrent film response, rather than sometimes being wrong. This bug'sbeen around a while and is most noticable in 1.2 when choosing betweenthe Kodak Infrared filtered/unfiltered choices. 1.3 is much better inthis regard.

2. Feature: "No Film" and "No Paper" choices added to the lists. Arequest was made to allow virtual printing of real-life scannednegatives (JPG scans) via bypassing the film simulator. This is nowpossible by choosing the "No Film" option in the film list. There'salso a "No Paper" option, but its use is undetermined. And, yeah, youcan choose No Film and No Paper and have Andy do a very boring B&Wconversion. But I guess you could add film grain or something.

Available for download now for all purchasers of AndyPRO.
http://nexi.com/andy

As promised, the 100% freeware channel mixer Deejay is now available.

Deejay is an R/G/B channel mixer that lets you combine data from any of the RGB channels into any RGB channel. You can create monochrome output for interesting textures, or full colour output for extreme colour adjustment. In addition to R G and B sliders, you also get sliders which have maximums of RG, GB, BR and all three channels, making for a very flexible and powerful tool. It is, however, a very technical tool intended for past users of similar tools in other imaging applications.

Learn more and Download Now
http://nexi.com/deejay

FoxyPRO Released

FoxyPRO 1.2a is now available for purchase at $10 USD. This release includes the popular "focal blur" effect. My implementation of focal blur includes the same area selector as the Foxy vignette tool, so you can blur a wide variety of areas of your image. The blur can scale up to a massive 256 pixel diameter for almost complete washout of image detail, or be as small as a couple pixels to put a gentle haze wherever you want it. The type of blur can be changed from a true "blur" to a more pixellated "dissolve" with many steps in between for interesting texture effects. You can also choose the traditional Gaussian blur or a more photographic looking "bokeh" simulator which has a harder edge. Finally, you can create an approximation of the effect of cheap lenses by using the Chromatic slider, which throw the R/G/B channels out of alignment as the blur is applied, lending a distinctly low-fi look to your images.

FoxyPRO is available now; sample images are online for your review.
http://nexi.com/foxy

SadiePRO updated to 1.2

SadiePRO 1.2 is now available for download. As promised, this update includes a new "midsat" slider which adjusts moderate saturation levels. Extremely useful in compensating for the apparent decrease in saturation you get when printing your images.

http://nexi.com/sadie

AnselPRO 1.1 Available

As promised yesterday, AnselPRO 1.1 has been released. The new feature is a "Negative" checkbox that inverts the image to make your adjustments of shadow and black values easier.

http://nexi.com/ansel

Ansel post-release

Ansel's release on Friday was a sigh of relief. There haven't been too many questions, so either folks have picked it up quickly or it is so confusing as to defy the first steps of answer-seeking. Hoping for the former! I'm going to make a 1.1 release shortly, adding a "negative" function so it's easier to find and recover detail in the shadows. This is done and tested, I just need to make the builds and packages.

I have also added a "Midsat" slider to SadiePRO which has a similar effect to Ansel's "Midtone" slider, except for saturation. It compliments the Grey and Chrome sliders nicely, and the effect it creates is very pleasing.

A bug in Cammy is being researched -- some files don't report correctly. I should have an update which may fix this, also, shortly.

These updates will be coming out in the next day or two.

FoxyPRO is almost done with its tweaking. I'm finally happy with the focal blur. I need to do some testing to make sure it produces good output at all ranges, and doesn't run too slowly for previews. It's unfortunate, but a reality, that making a convincing whole-image blur requires an incredible amount of processing power -- and the focal blur function may be the slowest thing I've ever written (and hopefully ever will write). I've mitigated a lot of that with preview-step control, but it will still be more than noticable. Thankfully, it's a rarely needed special effect, so there shouldn't be an acceptance issue. Expect this by the end of the week, I think.

Ansel Info Available!

Ansel will probably ship tomorrow, Friday Jan 19. I've got the web page for it all ready now, though, except for samples. Both UIs are available for your perusal, and a full explanation of how it works and how to use it.

Take a peek and see what my latest plug-in will do!

http://nexi.com/ansel

It's not "bundle" pricing -- it's better!

Folks have asked me for bundle pricing ever since I introduced ... well, the second plug-in.

Well, now there are ten plug-ins, and at least three more that will be released soon, so it's high time I started make it easier for you to collect them all. I think bundle pricing is nice, but the problem with bundles is that bundles never satisfy everyone -- there's always something included that isn't what you want.

So, instead of bundles, I've introduced a "point" rewards system. Every time you buy a PRO plug-in, you'll receive points. Once you've accumulated enough points, you can redeem them for another PRO plug-in! With this system, you're rewarded for buying more plug-ins, but are never forced to accept a crummy bundle with plug-ins you don't want -- just build your own bundle and get one or more plug-ins free!

Here's the best part: I've made it retroactive! So, if you've ever purchased a plug-in from me, you already have points in your account! Just log in to http://nexi.com/software/paid/ and check out the redemption list under the shopping cart to see how many you have. N.B. if you've already bought everything, don't worry -- new PRO plug-ins are on the way, and you'll be able to redeem your points for them.

Thank you so much for your support -- it means a lot to me and my family.

what's happenin

Well, the big upgrade to Bibble 4.9.5 is mostly over. After rebuilding every plug-in on every platform and repackaging them and also getting freeware versions ready for distirbution as pack-ins with Bibble itself.... it's been a busy couple of weeks with not much room for development. Still, new plug-ins are on the way. Here's what we got:

AnselPRO is in its second round of testing as 0.9. Response from the testers has been very positive, thankfully, with some great suggestions I've taken heed of. I'd hoped to release it this past week but other tasks -- and wanting to be sure Ansel is solid -- mean we'll probably have to wait until the week of the 15th. Still, that's not long to wait!

FoxyPRO -- I've got the Focal Blur function for Foxy moving forward now -- the idea I had for making that faster has worked quite nicely. Some more optimizations and then some UI fixes and we should be ready to go with Foxy. I will also be including a "Bloom" function with FoxyPRO final, but we won't let that stop us from an early release to get this much-wanted "lens baby" (TM) simulator into the wild.

DeeJay -- I'm going to release a channel mixer in the next couple of weeks. I've determined that there's plenty of space between where I wanted to go with TonyULTRA and what people want from channel mixer, so we can actually have two products. And because I'm so very thankful of all the support you guys have given me as I've broken out of my day job, I'm going to give it away for free to say "thank you." Keep your eyes peeled for this!

TonyULTRA is back on the plate -- I know exactly what I'm going to do with it, and I promise you it will be spectacular. I'm practically drooling for my own software here, because I'm so excited. Still -- you'll get DeeJay first, because it's something so many people seem to want, and it's basic functionality I think Bibble should have.

MattyPRO is lurking around somewhere with a really lovely simulation of "shadows" between each level. Quite realistic, actually, helping output look extremely good. I've got another feature or two I'll probably squeeze into the pro version, but we'll take it as it comes.

I got other stuff cookin' but this is what is boiling over right now.
